2020 SFMCA Development Award Winners

 

The SFMCA is pleased to announce the winners of the 2020 SFMCA Development Awards. One person from each Branch has been selected after a rigorous interview process from a pool of outstanding applicants. We thank all those who applied for the 2020 Development Awards and were unsuccessful. This is the eleventh year it has been held and occurs every second year.

The winners will have their attendance at the postponed 2020 Australasian Milling Conference, being held at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre 11 to 13 April 2021 paid for. Following the conference, they will then take part in a week-long study tour of the South East Queensland feed milling and livestock production industries.

SFMCA Chairman David Bray said: “These candidates, like the previous award recipients, have agriculture and the stock feed industry at the centre of their plans for the future. They each individually demonstrate a commitment to their business and the industry.”

The winners are:

New South Wales              Sarah McClure – DSM Nutritional Products Australia

Sarah is a Product Development and Formulation Technologist based at DSM’s Wagga Wagga site and holds a Masters of Animal Science from CSU.

Queensland                        Samuel Haley – Darwalla Milling Company

Sam is the Feedmill manager at Darwalla’s Mt Cotton mill and has been onsite since leaving the automotive industry as a mechanic eight years ago.

South Australia                   Adam Schmidt – JT Johnson & Sons

Adam has been in the stock feed industry for 10 years working in the quality and logistics areas. He presently is the Raw material and Pellet Quality Coordinator at JT Johnson’s Kapunda site.

Victoria/Tasmania             Elise Davine – Ridley Agriproducts

Elise is Ridley’s lead pig nutritionist. She has spent 10 years with Ridley and enjoys taking new pig nutritionists and assisting with building them into commercially focused nutritionists.

Western Australia              Henry Vaughan – Unigrain Pty Ltd

Henry is the Manager Grain Accumulation & Stockfeed Pellets based at Unigrain’s Wagin site. He is looking forward to comparing east and west production systems and implementing improvements into his role on his return.

We congratulate the winners and look forward to their attendance at the conference and tour.
